Bjarn Starnafall is a Forge Father hero
Biography
Equipped with specially modified Hammerfist Drop Armour, Bjarn is a firm believer in the benefits of an unannounced, overwhelming strike. As the face and spokesman of Hammerfist Drop Armour, he has also managed to negotiate cut-prices for additional suits for his comrades. Landing like the fist of an angry god, he plummets in Deadzones to plunder their riches.
For someone so well-loved and renowned amongst his people, Bjarn is a very taciturn and gruff individual, even by the standards of his species. Cutting an unmistakable figure in the bulky silhouette of his Hammerfist pattern Orbital Drop Armour, he tends to let his weapons do the talking for him, the visor of his armour permanently clamped down over his features.
In spite of – or perhaps even because of – this dour nature, he is a hero to the Forge Father race. None have enjoyed more success, or exhibited more bravery than he, and the very fact that he was the only private individual to possess a suit of the rare Hammerfist Drop Armour, usually reserved for elite Forge Lords of the Star Realm, is proof of this. He wanders the galaxy, prospecting only the very richest seams – which he seems to have an uncanny knack of finding – and occasionally showing up to throw in his lot with a band of Brokkrs, before disappearing again at battles end, pursuing his own agenda once again.
The armour for which he is so renowned is indeed a majestic achievement in engineering. Originally designed for deep space mining operations, it mounts a built in inferno drill and a back mounted generator which powers various thrusters used as attitude adjusters in space. The laser, like so many employed by the Forge Fathers, doubles easily as a weapon. The strength and durability required of the armour to be capable of withstanding impacts from micrometeorites and other space debris makes it easily resilient enough for any battlefield. Bjarn’s own armour is heavily modified from the original design though who undertook this modification is unknown, some speculating that it may well have been Bjarn himself.
The most prominent modification is two large exhaust vents on the back, through which the thrust of the generator can be vented to make an effective jump pack. This allows Bjarn to deploy from sub orbit in the armour, placing himself in position precisely before slamming down into the midst of enemy positions, the shockwave of his arrival having an effect equivalent to a grenade going off amongst them. He is then able to use the thrusters to manoeuvre around the battlefield as if using a jump pack, giving him great flexibility. The inferno drill has been slightly retuned to be a devastating close up weapon, capable of penetrating armour and reducing organic targets to vapour in moments.
Bjarn is not known for being very talkative, and this combined with his habit of never appearing out of armour, lends to his air of mystery. What purpose has brought him to Nexus Psi is unclear, but what is certain is that the Forge Fathers in the area are more than happy to see him, the chance to fight alongside such a legendary hero something which no true Forge Father would ever miss.
