Murakkir are an off-shoot of the Forge Father dwarfs

Sons of the Dark Star

The Forge Fathers are certainly the dominant culture within the Star Realm. However, they are not the only one. At the very heart of the galaxy, beyond the range of even the most powerful telescopes and most inquisitive minds without the Star Realm, lies a region of space dominated by dozens of colossal black holes. The emptiness at the centre of creation is a secret the rest of the galaxy is perhaps better off not knowing.

The gravitic fields and strangely warped space time in this region would make travel there dangerous and difficult even for the advanced star drives of Forge Father ships. There are Dwarfs living there nonetheless. These Sons of the Dark Star, or Murakkir as they are known in their own language, are even less numerous than the Forge Fathers. But while their numbers are fewer and their perception of the galaxy subtly different, their belief and sense of purpose is no less powerful. The relationship between Murakkir and Forge Father is a complicated one.

Currently, the Dark Star Dwarfs live almost entirely in isolation, their worlds protected by the ranges of black holes that give them their name. Only a few travel through the Star Realm, and even fewer go beyond it. The Murakkir are typically less avaricious than Forge Fathers and tend to seek influence and political power rather than pure wealth. Many are skilled traders, diplomats, and negotiators - as yet, few are known as warriors.

To the human eye though there is no difference between a dark star Dwarf and a Forge Father, something that is both annoying and extremely useful to the Murakkir.

As it is, very few humans are even aware they exist as a separate faction and they choose not to illuminate anyone as to their true purpose. Some live quietly within the GCPS, slowly acquiring power and influence, often through manipulation of markets and currency, or by trading intelligence and subterfuge
