Aqissaq is a female Sphyr infected by the Plague
Biography
Aqissaq stands alone, fighting to uphold the honour of her race and avenge the dead all around her. At least, that what she thinks is happening. Infected by a Stage 2 Vector, she wanders around fighting with anything that crosses her dead-eyed path; another soul lost to the Plague.
Most Sphyr have surrendered to the inevitability of their race’s fate, the males working as bouncers, mercenaries, sanitation workers or whatever else they may find. The females – who are generally aesthetically pleasing to the human eye – often find work as hostesses, escorts or exotic dancers. Aqissaq is one of the few that never gave up on the spirit of her people.
Raised by a fierce matriarch of the old warrior clans, Aqissaq kept her Nuka – passed to her by her mentor – and held onto the ideals of her people, even as she was forced to earn a living from planet to planet working as a greeter in the seedier establishments. Nexus Psi was the twentieth planet in the last half dozen years, her habit of not being able to keep her mouth shut or her fists to herself when the hands of manual labourers or Corporate soldiers were wont to wander meaning that hers was an especially transient life.
She’d called Nexus Psi her home for a year, arriving with the first wave of settlers and managing to find herself employment with a less leery boss than usual. She’d dared to dream that she’d finally found her place to settle, and then the Plague arrived. She took up her ceremonial weapon and fought like a demon to protect those she could against the foul beasts that swept over the settlement at K17. Her Nuka reaped many beasts and she killed and killed while all around her fell. Now, she stands alone, fighting to uphold the honour of her race and avenge the dead all around her.
At least, that’s what she thinks is happening. The truth is that Aqissaq was finally worn down and infected in a fight with a Stage 2, and she now wanders around fighting with anything that crosses her dead-eyed path, be it friend or foe. The Plague is struggling to overpower her physiology, some small part of her personality remaining intact, though her body and sanity are irretrievably lost, and to all intents and purposes she is simply another Stage 3 wandering the ruins of Nexus Psi.
