Crystallis is the homeworld of the Crystallans located in the Third Sphere

The world of Crystallis was a well-developed and civilised place, peopled by a peaceful race of beings on the very cusp of greatness. They had centralised all planetary governance and knowledge databases, turning their entire world’s power towards, for the first time, interstellar exploration.
So great was their unified potential they were visited by the Ada-Lorana and given the gift of even greater technological advancements in order to speed their journey out into the stars. None of this was enough to stop the advance of the ships of the Forge Fathers when they reached Crystallan space.
The Forge Father fleets were unmoved by the appeals and representations of the Crystallans and sent armoured deep-extraction rigs onto the surface of their world, intent on sucking it dry. The Crystallans were not defenceless. The Ada-Lorana had provided them the knowledge to build the colossal Phase Flare - a machine intended to help the Crystallans develop truly clean power that was quickly repurposed into a weapon. It was, however, ill-suited to its new task though and the Crystallans were unprepared to deal with the chain-reaction its firing produced.
The Forge Fathers were driven off but at great cost. The detonation of the Phase Flare destabilised the planet itself, causing it to eventually explode, forming a new sun and flinging a cloud of rocky shards into space. Many Crystallans were lost. Those that survived found themselves fused and encased within the scattered craggy remains of their homeworld.
They are living monuments now to the destruction of Crystallis, powered by the twin fires of the last remnants of Phase Flare energy and their desire for revenge on both the Forge Fathers and the Ada-Lorana - whose meddling resulted in the death of their world
