Sphyr are an amphibious race that is fairly prevalent throughout the GCPS and originated on the planet Sphyria along with Sann-Gar and the Sephalin

About

The Sphyr are just one amongst many races to have had their strength eroded under the efforts of the GCPS. Once a proud and strong warrior species commanding a solar system full of lush planets and vast natural resource, now they are mostly scattered across the galaxy in small groups or occasionally as isolated individuals, earning a living in any way that they can.

Their homeworlds are neon-lit urban nightmares of overcrowding, their mineral wealth long since exhausted in terms of GCPS requirements and their endless lush tropical climes buried under neocrete and plexglass. Most Sphyr have surrendered to the inevitability of their race’s fate, the males working as bouncers, mercenaries, sanitation workers or whatever else they may find. This often includes working as security personnel for smaller Corporations who cannot afford to equip a standing army; Sphyr are vicious fighters, and need little more than a sharpened blade to be as deadly as a human with a gun.

It is believed that criminal elements within the GCPS have long exploited the Sphyr, making a great trade in Sphyr females, pushing them to work in pleasure districts, and placing a great strain on the treaties between our two peoples. Thus the females – who are generally aesthetically pleasing to the human eye – often find work as hostesses, escorts or exotic dancers.

The Rebs, of course, accuse the Corporations of profiting from these illegal endeavours. More recently, after the human-induced apocalypse of Sphyria, any Sphyr who had the chance immediately severed ties with the GCPS. Many joined the Rebellion, Adrienne Nikolovski being a ruthless example of their dedication. Others, like Aqissiaq, may fall victim to the Plague and still find the urge for revenge deep-seated within them.

Some Sphyr, suspicious of another human-dominated organisation, looked for other ways to strike back. DreadBall presented the perfect opportunity. DreadBall leagues allow like-minded Sphyr to organize and amass much-needed funding and information, all essential ingredients to any successful revolutionary movement.

Common weapons include the Harpoon Gun, the Forge Father made Mata Magma Lance and Hooks. A traditional weapon of the warrior clans was the Nuka.
