Biography
Orcs are well-known for their capacity and thirst for violence and conquest - a platoon of bellowing Marauders charging across a battlefield is a fearsome and noisy thing to behold. Shade’s method of warfare is somewhat more subtle though. In battle, he is far calmer, more precise, more cold-blooded than any Orc should be and his ruthless reliability as an assassin for hire has earned him a good living.
Silence is his trademark - he negotiates a price and kills a mark without uttering a word - and his face is covered by a heavy iron and leather mask. While this is an intimidating look, it also hides Shade’s secret - an infection by a Nomarian husk-bug. This parasitoid insect has almost completely invaded Shade’s central nervous system, hijacking and replacing his orcish neurons with its own silicate pathways. It is this that makes Shade such an efficient - and silent - killer and it is this that will ultimately kill him too when the husk-bug is finally ready to spawn its offspring. But, until then, he remains one of Blaine’s favourite Mercenaries.
