Terrus is a planet that was taken over by the Veer-myn

About

History

When war broke out between the two corporations leasing the planet Terrus in the Semarite system, both sides were quick to place the blame on the other. ADP Power claimed their hydro-electric plants had been sabotaged in order to force them to relinquish their rights.

Their erstwhile partners, Samarand Ventures Inc., accused ADP in turn of stealing chemical stocks and parts meant for its frontier workers. The arguments quickly escalated into armed conflict, trade agreements and contracts being ripped up as the former collaborators, now bitter rivals, each sought to take control of the entire planet for themselves. In fact, neither side were truly to blame for the losses they had suffered.

A Veer-myn colony, grown to an incredible size had, for reasons known only to its own Brood Mother and Maligni, decided to claim more territory for itself and had been sending its Creepers to the surface for some time. It was they who were responsible for leeching power from the hydro-electric plants while the nest’s Stalkers had been quietly and carefully stealing portions of shipments of goods to the frontier and moving them into the workshops of the Maligni.

As GCPS units went to war, hordes of Veer-myn, notably scores of massive Nightmares and Night Terrors, the results of a mutagenic program of hitherto unimaginable scale, rose up in the wake of each battle to finish off what was left of the winners. For each victory the corporate armies won, they the lost dozens or hundreds of men to opportunist attacks by the Veer-myn. ADP and Samarand were eventually both driven off the planet and broken by the losses they incurred.

The deployment of large quantities of highpersistence bio-warfare agents, a failed and joint last-ditch attempt to exterminate the nest, also made most of Terrus a no-go area for any but the most heavily armed and protected humans. The planet now, in effect, belongs to new masters
