New Parris is a planet in the Fourth Sphere.

The Long Patrol, though theoretically still in place, was crippled and had been unable to destroy every ship that had broken out of the Arc. A still potent, though much reduced, Plague fleet continued on into GCPS space. The first world they struck at was New Parris, a central world in the Soto sector. Parris had been a settled part of the Fourth Sphere for many years before the Plague. Its population, largely bonded workers for a conglomerate of corporations specialising in building worlds suitable for human habitation, were a hardy stock. Frontier living was no easy calling, but these were people who believed in making a place for themselves on the edge of space, somewhere their children and their children’s children could call home for years to come. When the Plague arrived, New Parris became a charnel house.
Exact figures are hard to come by - the population on Parris had a low opinion of their lives being recorded by Corporation Central and so tended to resist sending any data about themselves to its offices. But shipping records and what census data does still exist for that sector of space indicate a population of no less than two million souls and possibly as many as ten. The Plague killed the whole world in less than one G-standard month.
A few scraps of video footage leaked onto private networks by the data-activist ‘Karma’ are purported to show the things that struck at New Parris.
There are deformed soldiers, like those that assaulted the Long Patrol’s ships, but also bigger things. Monstrous quadrupeds, creatures as big as a transport wagon and twice as powerful, that were capable of ripping apart a Shensig tile like it was paper. Hordes of mutated animals, beasts that might once have been dogs or other predators tore through the streets of townships and starports. Horror upon horror.
After Parris, more worlds fell and soon the entire Soto sector was gripped by panic. Fully one half of all Enforcer personnel in the galaxy were shipped in to halt the Plague’s progress, with orders being given for all other operators to be ready to join them at twenty-four hours notice if required.
